Valentine Guzman, BSME, DC
Dr Guzman has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and worked at the Johnson Space Center, in Houston, Texas for over thirteen years, where his areas of involvement included flight crew training, space hardware non-destructive testing, repair of computer and telemetry equipment, flight software certification, before becoming certified in Sports Chiropractic.
Chiropractic Doctor(DC) 1984
Dr Guzman graduated in 1985 as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the second oldest Chiropractic college in the nation, Texas Chiropractic College, near Houston, Texas.
Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician(CCSP) 1987
Dr. Guzman completed the first level of certification in Chiropractic sports injuries. This 100 hour certification is awarded through the American Chiropractic Association, Council on Sports. Dr. Guzman's participation included being the team doctor for a state-wide women's competitive soccer team.
Diplomat of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians(DACBSP) 1994
Dr. Guzman was among the first 67 national candidates eligible for and passing the extensive multi-phase testing required after the certification in-class, hands-on, on-field training. This 300 hour certification represents the highest level of training certification in sports for the Chiropractic profession.
Recipient of NASA Astronaut Office, Astronaut Award 1978
for recognition of the contributions to the Space Shuttle Approach/Landing Flight Software verification and testing at the Johnson Space Center's flight simulation facility, Shuttle Avionics Integration Laboratory(SAIL), as a Quality Engineer and test-cockpit observer. By definition, the number of awards granted by the Astronaut's Office for this prestigious award never exceeds 1% of the eligible mission support workforce. This award is called the silver snoopy award, since it features a pin with the character Snoopy in an astronaut suit, the safety mascot for the NASA Astronaut Office.
